Yamanyoon

The total number of people displaced from the West Coast who are poor, who suffer from malnutrition and deadly diseases due to the siege on the country, preventing the entry of medicine, who have lost their jobs due to the war, has reached up to 200,000 people (25,000 families) in the past three years, and are all from the Western areas of Yemen, beginning from al-Mukha and ending with al-Kukha coastal area. Those displaced mostly fled to Sana’a, Taiz, Aden and Hadramout, including some rural areas. Those oppressed Yemenis are in extreme poverty and lack food, water, and other things that are vital for living.

The monitoring team recorded one of the poor families in the city of Hodeidah, who have welcomed other families in a narrow and modest house. The number of the families reached 27, including children and women, where they only have one meal a day, which is given be a donor named Abdullah.

The team documented during their visit a painful story of the suffering of children and women who don’t have a place to sit except the cold ground. Maryam, a middle-aged woman in her 40s, is a mother of four displaced children from al-Drehami district, who currently live now in al-Haook district, told the story of her escape from her house under aerial Saudi bombardment, US-made missiles, and flying bullets. ” we left everything in the house, even our clothes, we were afraid and we did not want to die”, Maryam said.

” My only wish is to go back to my house, I can not live away from my house, I can not sleep and eat, and I am afraid of the war. What will you do to bring us back to our house? she cried painfully and angrily.

The toll of the Displaced families in June 2018 escalated because of the military campaign and assaults of the US-backed Saudi-led coalition on Hodeidah coastal governorate, which targets villages of Drehemi, Manar, Nakhaila, Shujira, Taaif; in addition to the carried out airstrikes on the city of Hodeidah and scaring off civilians by fabricated news and propaganda, leading to the flow of hundreds of people on a daily basis to the capital Sana’a, where more than 5000 families (38 thousand people) have repositioned to.

Moreover, four displacement centers are present in the city of Hodeidah, which covers Hundreds of families who have left their homes. The centers give food and humanitarian relief from donor organizations, activists, associations and the local authority of Hodeidah.
