The Condemnation of US FM Statements Regarding Yemen: A Source

An official source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the recent statements made by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in which he stressed the continued support for Saudi-led aggression and Washington’s refusal to limit the aid provided by Washington to the Saudi aggression against Yemen.

The Yemeni news agency “Saba” reported a source from Yemen’s foreign ministry that condemned the US secretary of state for participating in the delay of the implementation of the Stockholm agreement.

The source pointed out that these statements weren’t a surprise from the US administration because it is “the actual leader of this coalition of aggression|”, and involved in committing war crimes and crimes of genocide against the Yemeni people and will always be held the main responsibility for what is happening in Yemen.

The source pointed out that these statements come in the context of coverage of the decline of the other party that has been hindering the implementation of the Stockholm agreements, both in terms of the agreement of Hodeidah and prisoner’s swap deal.

The source said that these statements do not serve the peace efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen and reflect the American determination to prolong the war and multiply the human suffering of the Yemeni people, which is unprecedented.

The source called on the US administration to listen to the position of the US Congress, which voted by a majority in favor of stopping US support for the aggression on Yemen. In addition, the source praised this such position by the US Congress in trying to halt this US-Saudi aggression on Yemen, which reflects the will of the American people in stopping it.

The source also called on the US administration to review its policies in Yemen, which will only lead to more discontent amongst the Yemeni people and harm the interests of the American people in Yemen and the region.
