The UN, Int. Community Take Responsibility for the Humanitarian Catastrophe in Yemen: Women’s Committee

Yamanyoon

The National Women’s Committee called on the United Nations and the international community to take responsibility for the disastrous humanitarian situation in Yemen, which has been going on since the beginning of the Saudi-led coalition military campaign that has killed, wounded thousands of people and displace millions.

The Committee expressed its point of view in a statement that was released on Monday, saying that the continuation of the crimes by the Saudi-UAE aggression, latest of which was the targeting of Alrabsa neighborhood in the city of Hodeidah, is a sign that confirms the dishonesty of the Saudi-led aggressive coalition that claims that its desire is to stop human suffering and violence against the Yemeni people.

The Committee pointed out that the crime that took place in al-Rabsa neighborhood, which claimed the lives of a number of women and children, in addition to the military escalation in the provinces of Hodeidah, Saada, Dhale, and others, resulted merely in the destruction, damage of homes, farms, which is a usual behavior that the coalition refers back to during each period of peace talks or truces.

The statement pointed out that Saudi Arabia, UAE alongside other regional countries have been used to violating humanitarian and international covenants and conventions that obstruct humanitarian efforts aimed at lifting the siege, hunger and suffering of the Yemeni people.

The statement called on the United Nations and the international community to take responsibility for the disastrous humanitarian situation in Yemen.
